Downgraded server for time being - on to thinking about Germany

I've downgraded our main Domino server to 8.5.1 until the SMTP thing is fixed.  I'm very not happy about it.

Meanwhile, I'm headed for Germany, leaving the US of A on Monday September 13th, arriving in Frankfurt Tuesday morning.

My quick study of German is going well.  I am pretty sure I'll be OK talking as long as the main topic of conversation is, "What is your cat doing."  I can say, "Meine Katze schläft."

I will have a few days of being a tourist before we start the real work at the AdminCamp in Gelsenkirchen.  It's going to be a terrific conference.  Big, but not too big.  You'll have access to experts.  That's like having a personal consulting service.

I am trying to determine what cities to visit.  We'll arrive Tuesday the 14th and have 4 days, Wednesday through Saturday and maybe even part of Sunday to see some  cool things.  I like the idea of staying in a few small towns, but where?

I have a friend who grew up in Bavaria, and she thinks I'd love Bavaria because of the mountains.  Then there are cities like Bonn, and Heidelburg, and the cities along the German border with Luxemburg, France, and Belgium.

Based on logs, I know that this blog has readers in Europe.  Can anyone give any advice on what places to visit?  Things to do in a relatively short period of time?  I'm open to suggestions.
