R8 Desktop training is available for free

A client asked me if any educational tools are available on R8 from IBM.  It reminded me that IBM had posted some PDFs a while back on using Notes R8 that would be handy to download and print out.  So I followed an old bookmark to the place I had seen them.

This time however, I realized that I had ether missed something on my last visit, or it just wasn't there at the time.  That was a Learning Plug-in for Lotus Notes.  What a nice find this was!
I read the instructions on how to install it and uncharacteristically actually followed them, and voila!  The Learning Plug-in for IBM Lotus Notes was installed in my sidebar.

There are videos, tutorials, product tours, web seminars, self-paced e-learning, reference cards and web pages available through the plug-in.
And there is copious information about using Symphony as well, including reference cards on how to move from Microsoft products to the suite.  Plus there are more videos on usage, and lessons and all sorts of stuff.

I am really blown away by this resource.  It really makes a great example of what's possible in a plug-in and of the value added it provides.

As an extra bonus, there links to training and certification information, course schedules, and wikis.

A little research shows that I am slow on the draw on finding this tool, as it was released back in early December of 2008.  I used the alternate method of installation and it worked great.

Consider what this tool might mean for sites potentially wanting to make the move, but not having enough budget for education.  This indeed might be able to provide a slice of that education for the Notes 8 and Symphony audience.

A thank you goes from me to the Wiki people and IBM.
